A Mountain of Anime News Arrived During the Festive Season

The Yuletide season offer a plethora of pastimes considerably more enjoyable than scanning the headlines: unwrapping gifts, getting stuffed on holiday treats, and employing patience techniques to refrain from yelling at family members. It is wished you managed to do all these things and more. That said, the world of entertainment doesn't go on vacation, and this is notably true for the realm of anime. A slew of exciting announcements surfaced during the festive period, and should you missed some of them, here is a summary of the biggest bits.

One-Punch Man Its Third Season Is Set to Continue (Come 2027)

Perhaps the most shocking piece of news, the notorious controversial season that was season 3 of One-Punch Man proved insufficient to deter the series' continuation. Season 3 will come back with a subsequent part in 2027—a date so remote they might as well have labeled it season 4. Even more shocking, the studio J.C. Staff will continue to be in charge. On a positive note this time, helmer Shinpei Nagai is on board to direct from the outset, which might be a hopeful indicator. Yet, the key visual for the second cour is a mirror of the one used for season 3, just with protagonists Saitama and Garou oriented differently. This makes me think that, at this point, they are probably teasing the fans.

The Ruri Dragon Series Will Be the Premiere Shonen Jump Anime By Kyoto Animation

Kyoto Animation has built a reputation for being an elite animation studio, distinguishing itself not just for the superb artistry of its productions but for the ethical practices of its employees—a rarity in the industry. Curiously, until now, it had not produced an anime stemming from a manga published in Shonen Jump, perhaps the most iconic magazine in the industry. Ruri Dragon will change that, and what a excellent choice it is. The manga by Masaoki Shindo achieved massive popularity when it launched in 2022 after just a handful of installments, but then went into a lengthy break due to the creator's health issues. When it resumed publication with a reduced workload, the series demonstrated it maintained the fans' appreciation and positive sentiment, and now the community is overjoyed about the forthcoming KyoAni adaptation.

Kingdom Season 6 Will Get a Sequel Now in the Works

Kingdom is the highly popular, decades-spanning Shueisha manga that is not One Piece. If you've haven't come across it before, it's because it only fairly recently obtained an English release, but the anime has been running for years, and its sixth season was yet another excellent entry. Apparently that was just the initial batch, because a "sequel" has been confirmed as currently being made, and it will probably air in 2026.

Science Saru Is Adapting A Witch in Mongolia Into an Anime Series

One more studio famous for the artistic merit of its work, Science Saru has delivered critically acclaimed works of the ilk of Space Dandy, Devilman Crybaby, and, more recently, Dandadan. This time, the studio will be producing the adaptation of Tomato Soup's manga A Witch's Life in Mongol, inspired by the true story of Fatima, an prominent woman and intellectual in the Mongol Empire in the 13th century. Judging from the trailer, the anime called Jaadugar: A Witch in Mongolia will have a distinctly fresh and captivating visual style, which is somewhat reminiscent of Ranking of Kings. Debuting in July 2026, this one will absolutely be on my watchlist.

The Tougen Anki Series Will Return With a Season Two

Shortly after the conclusion of its twenty-fourth episode, it was revealed that Tougen Anki will be securing a sequel. Based on the Japanese legend of Momotaro, Tougen Anki adapts the manga by Yura Urushibara. The upcoming season of the anime will cover the Nikko Kegon Falls Arc, but a firm premiere date has not yet been announced.
