Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A revitalized the Russian player claimed his first championship for 882 days with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serve in particular - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and eventually separating with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

This marks the player's first title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt from that period of that year.

Success also indicates he has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a event with my both daughters simultaneously, so to secure a trophy is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an enhanced serve.

The champion fought back from a deficit in the first set against the difficult opponent, taking 4 of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors exchanged break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his first tour championship, gained dominance to create a final set.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a rally at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a volley after a lengthy match.
