Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within Dol-Makjar.
Warning: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed
Episode 3 ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of characters who will separate from the main group to begin their separate journey, distinct from the additional parties.
This warrior group includes Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
Given a large ensemble, it was evident from the outset that maintaining everyone at one table would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Fighters, Planners, and Explorers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the group understands precisely where to go next after a brutal initial meeting with the enemy group.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the story’s plot—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering the hidden lair, striking the character, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The traitor then settled his debts and escaped to a fortified location in the northern region, north of the city, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants vengeance.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty environment.
- The strong character and Wicander, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
- Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter swore a life debt to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
Finally, all of them are sought by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- Tyranny and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This means them little choice but to journey toward the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we learn that the warrior group won’t be around next week, leaving the other eight players to round up the Questers and Planners tables.
Viewers can look forward to learning which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on the upcoming Thursday.
