Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement Wednesday night stating they are aware of claims of abuse circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization did not mention Rice by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the person involved was the father of her children, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the team selected in the second round.

Police Reports Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

The receiver was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in causing a multi-vehicle accident on a Texas roadway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced 30 days in jail and probationary supervision after entering a guilty plea to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first time in a decade.
