Palestinian-American Teenager Liberated After 270 Days in Israel's Custody

An American-Palestinian youth after completing 270 days in Israeli detention without charge was released.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old when he was arrested last February throughout the West Bank territory, during a family visit from his Florida home accused of stone-throwing toward Israeli settlers, which he previously denied.

American diplomatic officials said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, needed medical care right after being freed, family members reported.

Family described him as showing signs of malnutrition, and is suffering from conditions contracted in captivity.

In a statement, the youth's uncle spoke of the family's "tremendous relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"At this moment, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with the immediate medical attention he requires following exposure to harsh conditions and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."

The state department announced ongoing to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

{"US government authorities gives utmost importance than the safety and security of American nationals"," the department emphasized.

Several congressional representatives endorsed a document to the state department and President Donald Trump, urging greater action to secure his release.

Mr Ibrahim, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop from Florida, previously said his son only confessed about rock throwing due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed since the arrest, learning information solely what had happened to him through judicial records.

He stayed lacking indictment at Ofer detention facility on the West Bank.

It is also home to mature inmates, featuring prisoners sentenced for major terrorist activities and murder.

An estimated 350 Palestinian minors in security custody being held in Israeli jails, per correctional service statistics.

Many have never been charged and human rights groups, and international organizations, report instances of physical abuse and torture.

Subsequent to his liberation, the uncle stated relatives would persist in advocating for justice for his cousin family member Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen according to health authorities was beaten to death by Israeli settlers following tensions last July.

At the time, defense forces stated authorities were looking into information regarding a civilian was deceased.

The two cousins were employed together within the family's frozen treats establishment based in Florida.

No indictments occurred with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand United States leadership to protect our families," the uncle stated.
