The incident caused the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two men have been charged following a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray led to people being hurt at London's Heathrow Airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two counts of robbery and charges for using a harmful chemical, according to official statements.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after getting out of a car park lift, police said.

A three-year-old girl was caught up in the incident in the event. Several persons went to hospital for treatment and were eventually allowed to go home.

This event – which authorities stated was isolated and not being treated as terrorism – caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport road tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a brief period.
