Vehicles in Germany's City Discovered Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities mentioned they were contacted by a resident who discovered a car in Hanau marked with reddish substance

Roughly fifty cars have been smeared with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.

Cars, building surfaces and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Officers say they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish substance.

The substance had been applied in the shape of a swastika, they reported.

Officers then found numerous other marked automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of symbols from the Nazi era.

Police say initial examinations indicate the substance was most likely human bodily fluid.

"There is still no lead as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any harm in connection with the event," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.

A senior political figure said the attack left him without words and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This event affects the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
